Scheduled to be built in 2023, the Atwood Music Hall will be Madison’s newest events space. The building was built in 1931 for the Madison Gospel Tabernacle Church featuring an original ‘lamella’ roof structure. The vision from the ownership team was to renovate the building to accommodate 750 occupants while trying to re-create the artful approach of theaters built throughout history. “How do we have large community events without having the occupants feel like cattle?” was the source question to this project. The challenge to fit all of the infrastructure for that many people into almost a century old building while still being graceful proved to be substantial. Luckily with fantastic partnerships with Bachmann Construction and all of their sub-contractors, this lofty goal is scheduled to be achieved by the end of 2023.
